Outspoken brings to Maleny a dynamic series of conversations with writers; an extended festival of both ideas and stories, enriching our community.

As of November 2025, we have been operating for a remarkable fifteen years. In that time, with the support of you, our audience, we have hosted around ninety events, with more than one hundred and sixty authors (if the maths doesn’t seem to work it’s because several of our writers have been here more than once. Many of them regard their visit to Maleny as the ‘highlight of their tour’)

Our autonomy has always been very important to us and, as a forum for ideas, we strive to maintain our independence. We are sustained only through the sale of tickets and a real passion for what we do.
